Why 'Tamburlane'?
Tamburlane's name, the latter element meaning 'the lame', is all too appropriate for a computer: powerful, all-conquering in its chameleon application, yet fatally flawed. It joins the ranks of other lamed or damaged heroes:
Achilles
Byron
Dougal
The Fisher King
Hephaestus (Smith to you)
Jason (the loss of a flip-flop is enough to mark a man)
The fatal flaw: essence of tragedy, essence of man...
Quaere: can a hero not have a weak spot (not be lamed or damaged)?
So now you know. Why the other computers on our network are called Titania and Oberon should be equally obvious in a relative way. Though what these have to do with the Magic Roundabout is not so clear. Ask Dougal.
